Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences (IGIPESS)

Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences is one of the premier institutes under Delhi University. It houses physical education as well as other courses from sports under its faculty of applied and inter-disciplinary sciences. The institute was founded in year 1987. Since then it has been offering varied courses.

Courses offered:

B.Sc. (P.E., H.E. & S.) or Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Health Education & Sports

B.P.Ed. or Bachelor of Physical Education

M.P.Ed. or Master of Physical Education

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physical Education

Admission Procedures

Candidates who want to enroll them to the course have to fill up the preadmission form for the same and appear for a written and interview test. Written test is of 60 marks and have objective as well as comprehension part. Other than that there are sports Proficiency Test, physical fitness test, and medical examination.

Selection of the candidates is based on the merit and how they fare on the exam.

Eligibility

• For Masters Candidates’ age should be 20 years and a minimum marks in graduation is 50%.

• For Bachelor of Physical Education 45% marks with a certificate showing that the candidate have represented State/University in sports/games/athletics at Sr. National-state/Inter-varsity Championship is necessary.

• For B.Sc. (P.E., H.E. & Sports) 45% marks in Class XII Examination with 17 years age is required.

• Selection to Ph. D course is done after application by the head of the department.
