Overview

Devi Ahilya University or Devi Ahiliya Vishwavidyalaya or Indore University has been established by a legislative assembly act of Madhya Pradesh in the year of 1964. Firstly limited to the Indore district, now, after the reorganization Devi Ahilya University is spanning over 7 districts, becoming an Indore division. The university is having in 153 affiliate colleges over 120,000 students and 6000 in its campus. It has been named after Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar, who has ruled the region of Indore. The university is recognized by the UGR and has been awarded with Grade B by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The university is having two campuses, on Rabindranath Tagore Marg in Indore is the primary school campus and administrative offices and the other campus on Khandwa Road; Takshashila Campus is directly administrated by the university being an extension of the primary campus.

Departments and Faculties

As mentioned, Devi Ahilya University is having 153 affiliate colleges, all recognized and worldwide known, such as the Institute of Engineering and Technology, The Institute of Management Studies or International Institute of Professional Studies approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. These institutes are known to be among the best ones in the country. The Institute of Management Studies includes academic programs like, Masters of Business Administration, including disaster management, marketing management, e-commerce, and hospital administration. Currently, the Institute of Engineering and Technology offers education in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

At Devi Ahilya University tens of faculties are awaiting students from all over the world the disciplines include, School of Economics, Biochemistry, Education, School of Journalism & Mass Communication, School of Energy & Environmental Studies, School of Law, and School of Life Sciences School of Mathematics School of Pharmacy School of Physical Education School of Physics School of Statistics. Even more, the faculties and departments continuously include Academic Staff College, Bahá'í Chair for Studies in Development, Central Library, Centre for Science Communication, Centre for e-Business, Department of Adult, Continuing Education & Extension and Educational Multimedia Research Centre.
